Your flight back home, accommodations and food will be covered during the Race. (We're currently fundraising so we can cover the team's race expenses and to help our beneficiary, Blue Planet Network.)
Also, the conference calls are 1-hr in length. We cover the race rules, logistics, etc. Shifts are 16-hrs with a 8-hr sleep break in a moving vehicle. Remember, this is a non-stop race so we are constantly moving forward on the course to keep the team somewhat together.

YES please! bike mechanics are needed! the race doesn't provide ANYTHING for us, except for the route from Oceanside to Annapolis and a whole bunch of rules we need to follow.

I just recalled what happened to that guy that came in from Spain; participated in R.A.A.M., got struck by some punk... and was paralyzed for some time....
My deepest respect for what you guys do......

Yeah, unfortunately accidents do happen. During last year's RAAM, there were a few accidents that happened - the Spanish racer that got hit by a young driver, causing the racer to be paralyzed...then there was a team whose RV flipped over because the driver fell asleep. Thankfully nobody was seriously injured. Then there was a support vehicle that was t-boned. Again, thankfully nobody was injured. It seems like every year something happens, including a racer getting run over by a big rig. (RIP Dr Breedlove)
This race is no joke; thus the tag line "The Toughest Bike Race in the World." While accidents do happen, RAAM does a good job with adding more rules for the purpose of keeping everyone safe. Not following the rules = penalties or disqualification.
So....who's down to join our team to crew????
