Trying to start a weekly thing out in the I.E.
Let's see if I can get some steam on this one.

The 909 or the North San Diego rich-fuck imposed 951 area?

Never mind, read the info and noticed the Riverside area has gone stale again as well.
I recall they tried to restart a short-lived, IECM there on Sunday nights in the downtown area after the IECM in Rancho Cucamonga folded for still, as-of-yet, unknown reasons in early '09.
As for my 909 vs 951 anguish, there's still many out there that forget that 909 was a single code until residents in another area pressured a PUC switch in '04.
bentstrider01.10.11 - 7:47 am
reply
Yeah the ill-fated IECM. I went on it once before it dwindled down to nothingness-- it was a CM of <20 people. =(
But the university has a good amount of riders, maybe they're come out. Maybe--
I was not aware of the 909 v the 951 turmoil.
Are you the historian of this place? =)

You should've seen it pre '09, I was on it three times, Jan '08, July '08 and Nov '08.
Jan and July were popping, but the November one was where I began to notice the dwindle/peter-out factor.
I'm guessing it could've been the combination of the leaders(yes, it had leaders) having a particular work schedule that was interfered, and the consistent "mounts of resistance" brought on by the security-forces and SBSO whenever the ride made its way through Victoria Gardens.
Now Riverside City, I'm guessing due to the highly-reputed institutions of RCC and UCR campuses and the laxer attitude of LE in Riverside county in general, I could see where this would be an easier gig to pull off.
As for the 909 vs 951 problem, I just read a lot of newspapers and kept up with the fact that every time a major area code change occurred in East SoCal(Riverside, San Bernardino, Imperial, and San Diego counties) it always involved some group of money-having homeowners in the Palomar area getting pissy.

im not a fucking braindead halftard. ive never ridden barchops. bar culture is lamer than what la bicycle culture has devolved into. the 818 has the best riding available to los angeles though, so thanks for visiting my neck of the woods. dont let the proverbial door hit you on the ass on your pitiful drive back to the desert.

Goldsprints was getting finished up the same time Barchopz was starting at Big Wangs.
You were going home, we were rolling out.

goldsprints is stationary bike racing. why would i race a stationary bike on the chandler path? oh you mean drag racing.
im not ashamed of my past. i learned from it. bikeforums happened. getting fucked up is stupid, and thats what being a cyclist in la is all about to 90% of the people out there.

LA bike culture is mostly drinking aNd smoking and oh yeah, riding-- there'll usually be some juvenile 'tard who will use the cover of a mob to throw things at people and such.
I.E. Bike culture is apparently nonexistent.
There are some dirt roads, but more importantly there are tons of newly paved roads. And with the lack of people come the lack of cars, and lack of public transportation. Thus no giant bloody Metro buses ruining the street. Giant friggin' pot-holes to swerve around? Nope.
(Think mid-wilshire where the giant rapids pass through, or Beverly Hills Santa Monica Blvd area.)
Those areas are almost unrideable... Almost.
The streets here have none of that. Sure there's an occasional sink-hole, but I'd rather take that than any other thing on the street.

Well, you never saw me getting "fucked up" on rides either, I just saw these as a way to escape the humdrum existence of whoopdy-doo in the desert.
But, I haven't been complaining as much about no rides happening in the desert due to getting into other cool things(welding certification), and my OTR gig finally coming back into the fray.
I may think about the '07-'08 "crowd periods" from time-to-time, but I'm slowly getting over due to the fact that even the wild, LA area rides aren't running at full steam like they used to.
CRANK Mob is dead, CruzWithUs has kicked the bucket, none of that good shit is coming back for the forseeable future.
Your vision on seeing those rides pass on has been fulfilled, the "drinking parties" are limited to 5-15 person crowds and stick to certain areas of the city proper.

and just because there arent that many people that get shit faced and ride doesnt mean that there aren't any rides.
Hesperia also has pac sun velo ride.

Thanks, but I'm kind of over it now.
Although I always thought Pac-Sun was just an apparel store, I'll look into it.
The only time I ever drink is if I want to fall asleep quicker.
Bourbon isn't usually a drink of choice at rides, more like something you take along with a tv dinner.

It appears your unwarranted feud is never going to end with me.
We could either settle this in a drag-race, or a local ring, your choice.
Only reason I'm giving this type of cyber-feuding any mind is due to the fact that everyone knows you exist, as opposed to those flamers that everyone gets bent out of shape over, but have never seen in the flesh before.
This thread was in relation to the lack of rides in the IE area, not the desert, but as always, Tyler has to rear his negative head into anything my name pops up under.
It's been two years, have children already or something.
