Retarded Drivers and Yardmen
Thread started by

keep this in mind: i ride to the right out of traffic with a ton of room for drivers to pass and obey all lights and signs.
with that said, bring on the obsenities...
drivers who don't know how to share the road with cyclists need to die. no teaching them, they need to just drive straight into a concrete wall and die. also, if you're a yard guy and you have to drive by and curse at someone in spanish maybe you should do it to someone worst off than you not a legal citizen with a pricey bike worth more than your pathetic yard waste saturated life. get hit by a bus, fucktards!
i speak spanish because i'm half-mexican, be prepared to get followed and take your plate down and report you as a drunk driver. i'd like to see you get out of that sticky situation.
i'm a driver too, but i don't honk at cyclists because they have rights like i do too and by the way yard guys, if you're in the country illegally as far as i'm concerned you have no rights to drive. educate yourself, pursue success and lay off cyclists and pedestrians.

i did not report a fake drunk driver by the way, it just angers me that people can hate cyclists so much even while they obey the laws.

Venting is a good thing, if the little shits keep it up and you survive one of their close calls, you could always plead insanity.

I leave marking so other cyclists know that the car is a dangerous one.
Custom pinstripe, custom passenger door foot print, removal of side mirror if their not using it anyways.

ruh-tard drivers should be banned from these streets!!
Countless times I generously ride on the gutter, but a couple drivers just don't get 'how to still share a road' even when I'm not in their way. (damn tards.)

hmmm, as commuter cycling through most cities getting honked at or verbally abused is something to be expected.... I am not saying this is right...but I believe most riders here have some experience with what happened to you...
for example, late late last night i was riding with a friend... the entire left lane was open without any traffic or cars... a vehicle sped up and honked at us on the right lane... what did this driver really gain? I did not and do not understand why any driver would waste their time...
as for name calling... also have been called many names by drivers and even on the chandler bike path in burbank i have been thrown eggs (gladly they missed)...
things have progressively gotten better for cyclists on the streets....
and now to your negative prejudice assumptions on landscapers.... you also need to educate yourself and owning expensive bicycles does not make your life or anyone's better or worse... I am not excusing their poor choice of behavior but we all make poor judgments here and there.... You have the right to be upset and angry but not to generalize that all landscapers are illegal, that you have a better life because of your expensive bicycle or the being illegal they do not have rights... you are getting into a whole political policy issue about this governments immigration policy. Get passed the rhetoric and open your eyes...if you are half mexican...somewhere along one of your ancestors has a high probability that they were in this country illegally.... and look how far you have gone.... can buy expensive bicycles and have a successful life....

OKAY HERE IS THE SECRET TO DEALING WITH THIS:
STFU.
Really though, the best way I've found to deal with this is two different strategies depending on the how you're feeling: apology mind fuck or credible looking death threats.
Apology Mind Fuck = catch up to offending driver, find a way to appear to legitimately apologize for "getting in their way, you are just on your way to work/home/pick up your kids". Wish them well. Watch their face contort with fear, anger, etc. then turn into a happy smiley face and they drive off saying, "Sorry! Be safe out there! I love bikes." Ride your bike home like a boss.
Credible Looking Death Threat = wield small but visible pocket knife in plain sight once offense has occurred. Yell, "I am going to cut your fucking face off motherfucker!!". Watch as their smug face rolls into mortal fear for their life. Then put it away and say, "Hahahaha, man just kidding. Have a nice day dude." Ride off like a boss.
I have used Apology Mind Fuck too many times to count, each time it was effective in cowing the driver and making me feel back in control of my life.
Credible Looking Death Threat I've only done once or twice with aggressive cars full of males. I laughed at their girlish screams and they laughed at themselves realizing that in trying to punk me I'd punked them.
Okay, NOW YOU CAN STFU AND LEAVE THE INTERNET.

i thank everyone's comments.
@dayone you're right i shouldn't generalize. i wrote this right after it happened so i was still very ramped up so everything i said about them came from pure anger at their dislike of me being on a bike. about your assumption that one of my ancestors may have some illegally at one time, this got me thinking so i talked to my mom and grandma about it and my grandma actually had the full paper work to come into the country and once in she became naturalized a few months later. the same for my mom. now, they were well off in mexico so this exposes terrible immigration policies that those poor in mexico, central and south america can't come in unless they come in illegally and once in it's still hard for them to become a citizen without getting arrested and deported back. so yes you're right i shouldn't have generalized that they were illegal. my anger, however, was more from the fact that if this was turned around and i was illegal i would do my best not to break any law, especially by harassing anyone.
@everyone: no my bike isn't worth more than those guys in a landscaping truck, even if it is it's still wrong to make assumptions like that. i was angry as i wrote this. i came on to vent and i just wanted to release my anger. i should cool off next time and write more of what i mean in a sensible manner.
i do appreciate the comments, yes even the negative ones it opens my eyes more to be understanding of crappy drivers. one day none of us will be harassed and we'll all be able to ride and share the road.

@ubrayj02 i've actually done the 'apology mind fuck' to this lady about 2 months ago and she was so freaked that i was riding after her to catch up that she rolled into her garage and hit the inside wall. she was speeding to get out of the car when i just said 'i'm sorry i was just trying to share the road with you, hope you drive safely.'
she freaked out and ran into the connecting house from the garage. so that technique totally works.

why is this unique to an "illegal"?
Would it not just be better to appreciate your fortune in life, rather than suppose how virtuous you would be, had you been an "illegal"?

it's alright and understandable to get upset and angry... i do too when cars are aggressive and/or honk at me unnecessarily.... or for which I believe I am being honked at unnecessarily...
but things are getting better...not as fast as some of us would like it... but things are changing.... so keep riding and ride safe mate....

There have been times when I've been prepared to put a u-lock through someones windshield, but deep down we all know that this would have no good effect.
Just keep riding on.

If you are able to do something, do THIS - Get License Plate#, Vehicle and driver description, and anything else you can use to file a report.
Oh wait... Don't tell me you're to big to report something like this to the police... It's for YOUR own benefit. C'mon!
Retaliating physically would be the retard move.... Unless you can slash tires to disable the vehicle before the cops come.... hmmm. That's all i can think of.

Or install a loud-ass, 140dB air-horn like I have on my bike.
Blast offending vehicle and cover your nose when riding by them at the stoplight.
Okay, back to bugging the PYT at the Subway counter here in Cheyenne.

Yeah yeah yeah. Blah blah blah.... Rude drivers are a part of cycling just like sand traps are part of golf and gutters are a part of bowling. Some people will never understand that we have a right to the road, and our very presence makes some people want to kill us. That's just the way it is, some things will never change. You are definitely not helping by perpetuating the cycle of anger and wishing death upon them. Have you ever heard of right intention? Just remember that people in L.A. are crazy. Also remember that you're on a bike and a car outweighs you by at least a ton. It will never be a fair fight. If you let your anger get out of hand with the wrong person you might not live to post about it. When people are rude to me I smile and wave. It confuses the hell out of them.
