i'm looking to get a decent road bike for under 500(preferably 350 haha), going to start commuting more and want something that can handle hills...preferably road bike geared but open to suggestions.

The dude did say "decent "
at bikesdirect decent is kinda like asking a hooker if her cooter is decent. you know the answer but hope for the best.

What size frame? If you aren't short you should be able to find something used in your price range.

unless you're a roadie douchebag or really racing, like for real, then bikesdirect bikes are totally decent for the price. try buying a "decent" bike with sora/tiagra components at a bike shop for under $700. don't think so. not everyone cares about high end components for everyday riding.
also, stop fucking hookers. okcupid or something, man.

Getting a bike from bikesdirect.com isn't bad at all so long as you're not a snob. They have a lot of great bikes on that site. Just do research on the bike [as you would any bicycle purchase] before you buy it and get it professionally built at your LBS. Most of all make sure you know your dimensions to ensure a proper fit.If you want to buy from a shop you can get deals if you tell them you're paying in cash. Check out ebay and craigslist too you'll find great built up bikes there too -- "name brand." Best of luck.
