Here's my take on the meeting, btw:
There was a handful of people who were very loud and very angry because of the road diet. I assume these are the same people who mash their foot on the gas pedal when the light turns green and then mash their foot on the brake pedal when they get to the next light. Their presence made it seem like the entire room was anti-road diet, and their basic point was: "We want four lanes. We need to get where we're going faster."
When it came time for public comments, however, there was a significant a number of people (maybe 50%, but I wasn't counting) who were in favor of the road diet. Their perspective seemed to be that the neighborhood was better served by a roadway designed for slower speeds, and less dangerous for making left-hand turns.
I had to leave at 830, so I didn't catch the vote, but I heard that the proposal was rejected and that Wilbur is going to remain a two-lane street for now. It's out of my way, but I think I'm going to take Wilbur on my way home from school tonight.
Also, I thought your presentation was excellent. Kudos.
