I checked this out last year, and must say if you are in the market for an insane time trial bike slashed almost half off but brand new, that is the place to do it. The in-store discount does not apply to bikes, but what it doesn't mention is tons of marked off bikes are lined up outside with price drops to make room for the new stock. Some components were out there last year too including wheels, chain rings and brakes.

No road bike comes with pedals since its a very personal thing and many peoople already have the shoes/cleats set up.

Larsen, Not sure if you are kidding or not but even if you don't like Helen's you can still go check out and try a bike and take your business elsewhere. It is free to demo.
I don't know any bike company or for that matter any store that hasn't fucked up someone's stuff or had an unhappy customer. Orange 20 fucked up Mark Edge's new roadbike and he almost ate shit when his crank broke off on a ride we were on. Very lucky. So, everyone can have their gripes. I am not defending Helen's or have any stake in the sale/demo other than being a Shifting Gears member and was asked to share the event with the MR community. If its not for you, that's cool, but if i was in need of, say a tube, i'd be thrilled to save a little cash rather than pay full price somewhere else.

This is part of the attitude that keeps cyclists fragmented and unable to apply a unified front for our rights and interests. If a lyrcra dude looks down on others that sucks, but so does your assumptions about people. The infighting attitude among different types of cyclists really needs to die.

To be honest, no one really gave a shit what you showed up in or what you were wearing. No one told me what to do. So what is larsen's point? They put my mountain biking pedals on one hot ass bike to take on a 28 mile ride. They knew there was no way I could afford that bike but so what. At the end, I got a smile and they asked if I enjoyed it.
