I know a lot of you are probably thinking "WTF, CUBCAMP!?" But please don't worry, we're not dead, and aren't about to let Cubcamp die either.
However, right now we are taking a much needed vacation from organizing all the insanity that you have grown to love, so please Ride hard, Sweat Fast, and love love love while we work to evolve Cubcamp, from a pre-teen, to a post-teen.

This has something to do with C.R.A.N.K. MOB, doesn't it?
(I love conspiracies.)

I think I've been mentally wrestling Cubcamp since I was four. Sometimes I'm losing, sometimes I'm winning, but I'm always smiling. Dear Doctor, am I o.k.?

# of laps depends on how many times you want to hit that hill, the rest of the route is relatively chill.

To the 3 young cats that showed up on the fixies - CubCamp _can_ be social ride, once your lungs get in shape, it'll just become a "fast-paced social ride". I promise.
That was a nice 24-mile jaunt (including the cooldown to the Marina and back), I think we could definitely use the San Vicente-Ocean-Wislhire-Bundy loop as a CubCamp time trial.
Congrats to the Sirens, sounds like they had a blast too.

You may have to clean a bit of sand out of your drivetrain after this ride, but it's totally worth it. Whether it's the supa-grimey food we are about to devour or the perfect-for-skids smoothness of the beach path near Hermosa, it'll be worth it.

There is a backup route in case that a majority are scared of the 90210 fog. Bring good rear lights for the climb, bring good front lights for the weave through Mullholland and the fast descent on Sepulveda. Fun.
jericho1ne12.1.08 - 8:42 pm

[
GOOGLEMAPS ROUTE ]
Santa Monica to N Beverly Dr, then continuing onto Franklin Canyon Dr. which puts us on the border of the Franklin Canyon Reservoir. I never have been up that route before, but I hear it's more scenic. Then a left on Mullholland, to Sepulveda.
Fixies should be fine on the way up as long as your legs are strong like Uncle Harry's (last year he made it up, but it was tough). On the way down, it would be smart to at least have a front brake.

i love climbing hills. my fixie has a low ratio. will riders be dropped on this ride?
ioioio12.4.08 - 3:44 pm
reply
I will not be there, ergo, no one should get dropped
long live cubcamp
e-rock12.4.08 - 4:49 pm
reply
Nope, you'll only get dropped "temporarily", we'll be waiting for everyone at the turns or forks in the road, so about 3 or 4 stopping points.
Plus there will be mini-maps of the route passed out prior to the ride.
