Trespassing Charges from last Wednesday's kush ride

Hi all;
Trying to scare up some help here. My daughter and I were on the Kush ride last Wednesday (and it was her VERY first night ride) and ended up being held for 45 minutes on trespassing charges along with 2 other guys. Truthtold, the cops were NONE TOO HAPPY that they found a spray can in one of the guys' backpacks.
In spite of pleadings on our part, they ticketed us for trespassing 63.44 B14(a), and we're scheduled for April 11th at the Hollywood Courthouse.
I'm old enough to take a little heat without getting burned, but what's killing me is that my daughter has a perfect record and I don't want her to capture a conviction (even misdemeanor) at the age of 19.
So, a few questions?
1. Has anybody in these forums dealt with the H-wood courts on cycling-related charges?
2. I didn't see any signage re: park closure when riding... are there signs missing at the entrance, or was I just concentrating too hard on what I was doing at the time?
3. Any ideas/suggestions that might help.
Greatly appreciate all of you!

It all depends, but with no rap you may be able to plead to an infraction (like a ticket) or even get the case dismissed if you offer to do something in exchange, like community service.

I hope you get off easy. It isn't right to be cited for trespassing when it's not obvious that you are trespassing, you were not causing trouble, and you were at a public park (even if it was closed).
You can get information from the L.A. County Court Website: http://www.lasuperiorcourt.org/Criminal/
I would add that there is the addition possibility of the case not being entered on the record when you get to court. This could be because of the DA dismissing the case or the case getting lost or not recorded by the officer.
I was cited for trespassing when dumpster diving with 3 friends at Bristol Farms, along with "Unauthorized removal of trash". I'm hoping the charges will be dropped When we went to court, the case was not entered on the record and we were told to expect a letter asking us to meet with the DA. This was at the Alhambra courthouse.

for hollywood i did a tril by declaration (probably not available in your case because it was traffic) and got a riding on the sidewalk case dismissed when i was scootering a bike (right foot on left pedle)
for criminal it might be possible to settle to a disturbing the peace pc 415, likely 415(2)

@DancesOnH2O
You can usually file a trial by declaration (basically writing a letter) and if you lose, you'll still have the chance to be seen by a judge. I think the best thing you can do is show up at court with your daughter, well dressed and make an articulate case for the judge.
police officers and judges make their decisions based on how they feel about you than the facts, so if you seem like a reasonable and respectable person, you should be able to get this thrown out.

Thanks to all of you for all of your advice and support. Awaiting feedback from Sgt. Krumer, but worst case we'll be standing before the judge on the 11th and expecting the best possible result.

Kushtown is not a ride parents should be taking their kids. Just the name says it all. But cops are being very anal on bikers wosdays so you might have to pay a fine, and don't try and fight it because you will lose. Good luck

Always fight all your tickets! Its your right as a citizen to have your defense heard by the. Judge! Don't take shit laying down. I fight all my tickets. It won't get any worse if you try.

I agree 100%. Also don't let them scare you into not fighting it. Make them show up in court before you pay anything or get anything on your record. The last time I was in traffic court they were cutting red light tickets in half if you pled guilty right there. That was not an option to those who just paid the $400-$500 ticket when it came in the mail. And don't do anything in a hurry. Wait until close to your court date then get an extension, then when your extension runs out plead not guilty.

Dude don't worry i got a no tresspassing ticket in Hiollywood I pleaded not guitly because for 1. it was at night,2. not my neighborhood and 3. no posted no tresspassing signs I was taking what thought was a short cut.
They can't hold you resposable for what ever those other Idiots had with them.
Judge dismissed the case due to unsufficient evidence that I was braking any law on purpose. Just make sure you show up in a decent attire and hopefully the person before you doesnt piss him off!!!!
But as people above have mentioned wrong night ride to take your kid unless you both are in to that sort of stuff there are plenty other fun rides at night...

My daughter has her own chops @19yrs old, and we are both clean-living. Both of us have been around worse influences than Kushtown and are none the worse for wear...
Of course, we both were kinda bummed that the riding wasn't the main agenda that night :
Good news is that the tix don't seem to be on the record with the DA's office. Could mean that the supervisor that night couldn't see the justice in putting us on the record/docket, or they were just lost. Sgt Krumer (thanks for all your help) told me that I should check with the clerk the day before the court date to see if I'm on the docket, but at this point, it doesn't look likely that the violations will be "on the record".
And thanks to all for your feedback and help/support everybody!. One more question... can you share your opinion on the the best ridez? My agenda when I take my wheel out at night is:
1. Get a great workout
2. Spread goodwill for the sport of cycling to motorists and all
3. Meet and get to know others that are into #1 and #2
4. Convert BI-cyclists to UNI-cyclists :)
Ride on!

Try the RWNN(Ride With No Name), daytime or evening versions as a great "ride".
2nd fridays are great but not what they were when Orange-20 was still the size of a closet.
Some rides are more drunken gatherings that roam by bicycle.

Just you so know...if you have a notice to appear for Monday, you should still appear...even if no case number or record of charges being filed show up on the City Attorney's system. I've had this happen to a couple of my clients before.
If charges still haven't been filed by Monday morning, the clerk will give you a receipt for having appeared and either give you another date to appear or tell you to wait for a letter from the City Attorney.
If you have a notice to appear and don't show up it becomes a bench warrant.
Make sure you check with the court clerk to see what their procedures are.

Thanks for that. Talked to the clerk earlier today and he told me to call him tomorrow and monday morning to see if it showed up. If it's in the record by monday, he will give us another 5 day extension of the date.
He also said if it doesn't show up in the system by then, then wait for the mail to come (if any).

But definitely also don't depend on them actually sending you a damn thing, even if the process moves forward on their end. I got a ticket a while back for which I received nothing in the mail ever. Even after I went to the courthouse and had them correct my address on the citation, still only ever got any information on it by checking online or going to the courthouse and talking to someone. Very frustrating.
