I've had a big heaping pile of greasy smelly liquid shit on my plate lately. Just realized that you pulled out.
Where were you planning on coming?
Got any unused routes laying around?
What about themes?
Notes?
Ideas?
Dump 'em out.

Critical manners was going to include an attempt to turn the start of LACM into a BTB, 45degree bike flags, a synchronized dance of left turns and u-turns to make a cross, a one block takeover using left turns into driveways, an occupy style bike shield, and a test to see how much space we could possibly take up.
Street pLAy was going to include a shit load of scavenger hunt and alleycat things including buying points from homeless people, a talent scout in one of three places you had to dance out of hiding, ‘first team there’ points at the bottom of swimming pools, and handmade cycle caps as prizes.
FUNarchy the ride was going to include playing dress-up and hide-n-seek inside malls, actors creating memorable interactions with the ride, rolling down hills in trash cans, slow foot dragging reckless riding… fake crashes, and a stand-up comedian.
Wetside was going to have our biggest slip-n-slide yet, ice blocking, and pool hopping at a trailer park.
We stopped because we weren’t the right leaders for this. We were failing at getting people to try new things. Half of crank mob showed up an hour late and only 4 out of like 150 brought costume supplies. The new idea we tried to add to FOTF completely failed with zero participants. Etc. It wasn’t fun for us to see our ideas overlooked.

I spend most of my free time in hospital rooms these days. soon as I get the chance I'll stEal some of your ideas. Unless somebody beats me to it, then I'll steal THEIR ideas.

im sorry you guys felt like that :(. i think with the rides you did do, they were a push for more creativity out of the participants, i think even if not everyone showed it, now that they are gone people are seeing how much they had fun, and wished they participated more. I feel like out of this there will be more creative and fun rides. I know at least for myself seeing all of these ride ideas is making me inspired to make my ride the best i can make it.
The movement will not die!
:D

These things always fail or flop or just fall a little flat in the beginning. I heard people grumbling after Trickmilla's MR ride a few months ago...they had expected "more," not (yet) understanding that the more was meant to come from them.
One way or another, the Big Dumb Herd paradigm will be replaced, because it has to be. People will start coming to urban social bike rides expecting to contribute rather than consume.
Dotcom.
