I thought this was a really great interview, and compared to other media coverage, Sgt. K, did a really good job explaining the new law, what it does, and what it doesn't cover.
The difference between shouting a complaint and using a car in a threatening way was made really clear ... I'm still not sure about projectiles though.

Anyhthing thown at a cyclist is not harassment but a crime and is subject to criminal justice system regardless of whether contact is made.

I've had a lot of things thrown at me, from eggs to soda cans. But, I've never been able to get the plate numbers every time.

I agree--the Hear in the City interview with Sgt. Krumer was great, sensible, and very informative.
I disagree with Sgt. Krumer's comment above, however, that "[a]nyhthing thown at a cyclist is not harassment . . ." No disagreement that it would be "a crime and is subject to criminal justice," but the act of throwing something at a cyclist certainly could be and likely would be harassment--and qualify as such under the new law.
Perhaps we misunderstand each other and further explanation of the comment is needed.

I've been repeatedly surprised by the number of accounts of cyclists reporting that they have had eggs, in particular, thrown at cyclists. That's crazy. Other than someone who has just visited a market, who are these people driving around with eggs in their cars? And why are they wasting their money and such a valuable source of protein?

I got an egg in the face last year standing in front of barcade.
If it hadn't been such a bummer i would have marveled at the amazing shot. From a moving vehicle.
Coincidentally, the same kids randomly tried to egg me again on my way home about 45 minutes & 3 miles later. So i think they were pretty much driving around that night bombing on random people with eggs.
Young men have a great capacity for doing stupid shit.

I remember the first time someone tried to egg me. The missed horribly and the egg splattered nearby. I remember thinking, "Wait, what the hell just happened?" Then the laughter of teenagers in an SUV. I wonder how this meme got started.

A few years ago we were on a RIDE-Arc, going up a hill out by La Canada when a kid fell out of a passing SUV, landed on his head and was knocked out. Turns out him and his companions were driving around with eggs, saw a bunch of people on bikes and were about to throw some eggs when he leaned out a little too far. I only felt a little sorry for him.
