Another Hit and Run in Chinatown

My buddy Bulet just called to tell me he was involved in a hit and run this afternoon. Details are sparse but it sounded like he and the car were both making a left turn and the car clipped him, sending him off the bike. From what he tells me, it wasn't that bad (i.e., not life-threatening) but he did re-injure his clavicle that was previously broken last October, so he's definitely in a lot of pain. Driver took off before he could get any information on the driver/vehicle.
This bullsh!t needs to stop. Everybody be careful out there.

Hey Jerome, do you know if I can apply for Victim's Compensation in my case where it wasn't a hit-and-run?

T, contact the DA's office if you want to get the ball rolling on your case. They contacted me after realizing I had not been contacted about it.

Thanks for the info, everyone. I haven't heard from him since the afternoon but I let Bulet know about the resources posted in this thread so he can get this taken care of properly.
This and all the other recent episodes just go to show that stuff can go down any time, any place, to new and seasoned riders (like Bulet). Stay vigilant out there.

If you get hit, your best bet is to call 911 at the scene. That way the police come to the scene and take a report. If anyone got a look at the driver/vehicle, the police can broadcast details over the radio and possibly catch them before they disappear. In addition, the police may gather possible physical evidence at the scene and interview potential witnesses before they fade into the woodwork.
By the time you wander into a police station to make a perfunctory report, all leads may be dry and your report may be in vain.
