Went to my local monthly meeting for the first time tonight.
www.lbcyclists.org/ has been up for less than a year but I like the direction it's going and their style. The meeting tonite, Jan 7, was attended by about 30-40 riders. Not bad for grass roots organization like this around here. Plans for the new year were discussed. The evening was topped off with this retired engineer talking about the carbon fiber, recumbent *folder*. Turned out this guy built the frame from scratch. Only saw it at night but it looked impressive. Wish I would have brought my camera. I guess the guy wants to put it in production if all the cards fall in place for him. He promised that he would have it out for events, so hopefully I can get some pics.
I felt pretty good turning him on to the instructables site and telling him about this guy that posted instructions on building a carbon fiber bike. :-)

All in all it was an enjoyable night meeting some of the locals here and one familiar face.
PS: for anyone interested, the LB cyclist general meeting takes place the first Wednesday of each month.
