down with 'music thread'
Thread started by
Joe Borfo at 01.10.08 - 3:37 pm
It's completely off topic and rarely has anything to do with our cycling community. I'm calling upon all fellow Ridazz to raise their voices against this, "'veritable plague of music-talk", which is corrupting our fair forum. Ignore the rantings usually sprouted from such deviant posers such as City Hobgoblin or ruinedbyIdiots.
The
music thread is up to no good and must be condemned from this list.

Hey RBI, have you heard of these guys? More stoner metal from TeePee records. They are playing at the Mountain Bar in Chinatown in a few weeks. They have a 20-minute song on their first album called "Flower Travellin Man" clearly a nod to "Flower Travellin Band." Who rules, BTW.

No, you were calling me a poser over "High On Fire". How the hell was I supposed to know they are secret Christians?
Christians co-opting stoner rock. Fuck. What's next?

There's starting to be a lot of Metal meets Shoegazer going on. Bands like Jesu and Alcest come to mind. How do you guys feel about that?
hatehills01.10.08 - 4:02 pm
reply
oh yeah. poser. but its also because high on fire kind of just sucks in general. pikes other band sleep wrote a song about all these biblical references to smoking weed.
personally i think its a little overrated. its touted as some like quintessential record, but its one song for 45 minutes. not even stoners have the patience for that.

@hatehills: RBI hates on a lot. The trick is to let the guy hate, but pay attention to the stuff he likes, cuz that shit is usually gold.
Except latter-year Rollins Black Flag. Haven't quite figured out his obsession with that.

Rollins. He makes me giggle. Who's got the 10 1/2 is practically a comedy record.

You're not a poseur. Even if their last album does sound exactly like a Motorhead record, RBI lives in Ojai so he has no cred.

Honest mistake, I went wrong there once too. But then you realize this guy has nothing to do except smoke grass and listen to music.
It's like saying Einstein had no cred because he worked in a patent office. Mothafucka had some TIME on his hands, that's what.

TUSSLE!
Tussle today still consists of two drummers, (Warren Huegel and Jonathan Holland), bassist Tomo Yasuda (electronics guru of Hey Willpower) and knob twiddler Nathan Burazer. Nathan and Jonathan have been making music together since their North Carolina days in the early 90s, where they became roommates shortly after Nathan left a religious cult (where he learned to play the his first instrument, the guitar). The two moved to San Francisco to go to art school, eventually meeting Warren (originally from Southern California) and Tomo (originally from Japan) through mutual friends. To this day, Tussle still lives in San Francisco, California, although their label resides in Oslo, Norway.

@Hair... the "down with the music thread" thread is serious business. This is the soil on which we fight for our inalienable rights, against the oppressive attention whore Borfo and his ilk. Heavy stuff. Sorry you were wrongfully lambasted, but casual internet sarcasm may be interpreted as a threat to our basic principles in this venue.
